 Sulfur Hexafluoride / Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6) is an inorganic, colorless, odorless, non-flammable, very strong greenhouse gas which is a good electrical insulator.

SF6 is used in the electricity industry as a gas dielectric medium for high-voltage circuit breakers, switchgear, and other electrical equipment. SF6 gas under pressure is used as a gas insulator in gas insulated switchgear (GIS) because it has dielectric strength far higher than air or dry nitrogen. SF6 is used in the medical industry to provide tamponade or plugs from retinal holes in retinal repair operations.
